Nature at Newtonmill
At Newtonmill, nature takes centre stage. Our home is a haven for a stunning variety of wildlife and plant life.
Towering over the landscape is our magnificent Giant Sequoia (Seymour), surrounded by native Scottish trees like Scots pine, birch, alder, oak, ash, hazel, and willow.
It’s not just the flora that captivates — keep an eye out for the red squirrels darting through the trees, while various songbirds and finches fill the air with their melodies. If you’re lucky, you might spot the elusive kingfisher along the water’s edge or catch a glimpse of graceful roe deer grazing in the paddocks.
And for the truly adventurous, there’s even been a rare sighting of a Scottish wildcat — perhaps mixed with domestic lineage, but no less fascinating. Newtonmill offers a rich tapestry of nature for all who visit. See the gallery below for some highlights.
At Newtonmill, we partner with the Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels initiative, tracking red squirrels and pine martens on our grounds to aid conservation efforts and protect local wildlife.
